Happy May Day!
I’ve been super lazy lately and haven’t posted anything in like a month. My bad. I’ve been a lot busier than normal and then I went to Washington, D.C. for a week to visit some friends, and to be honest, I’m still unpacking from that trip. Also my laundry hasn’t been done in over 3 weeks and I seriously need to take out the trash. And now somehow it’s May 1. Which means it’s time for another monthly favorites post! Woo! But also rent is due. Boo.
Anyway…this month’s favorites list is mostly clothing since I went on a shopping spree before my trip to D.C. and have now a lot of pretty new things for spring!
New Balance 247 Sneakers
I have a sneaker obsession. I’m not going to deny that in any way. I have more running shoes that I don’t actually run in than anyone else I know. So I definitely did not need these. But oh my goodness…how adorable are these pastel pink sneakers from New Balance? Talk about a perfect spring, athleisure shoe amiright? Not to mention that these are super comfortable and easy to walk in. Granted, I’ve only worn them twice since I’ve gotten them, but it’s been raining for what seems an eternity and I didn’t want to get these beauties dirty right off the bat. So, for now, they are just looking pretty in their box until a warm, dry spring day comes along and I can wear them again.
Francesca’s sparkly headbands
These headbands have been plaguing me for over 3 months now. I have been searching for these elusive sparkly headbands from Francesca’s ever since my friend lent me one of hers back in February. My search has been futile until recently when I discovered these two at a store in Washington, D.C. (the Dupont Circle store, if anyone cares). Why are these such a big deal? Well, they really aren’t. But I have been to 5 different Francesca’s stores and have checked their website more times than I can count in search of these, so at some point it’s just the principle of the thing. Also, I do wear a lot of headbands because of my frizzy, wavy hair and sometimes I just want one that I didn’t get from the Under Armor outlet. So now, after months of searching, I finally have my blinged out headbands that have been missing from my life for so long.
One of the things on my spring wishlist for this year was the oh-so versatile button down shirt. A shirt that I could wear casually, or dressed up with a skirt or nicer pants. Enter the chambray button down shirt. Apparently, this is a staple in the wardrobes of most people but that I somehow have been missing. That is until now. I bought two from Old Navy when they were having a sale a few weeks ago with the intention of returning one, but I ended up keeping them both because I loved them so much and the two I bought were both very different. As a result, my Pinterest board is now full of outfits with chambray shirts: Chambray + leggings, chambray + pleated skirts, chambray + jeans. So many possibilities…
I’ve been trying to eat just a little bit healthier lately. Emphasis on the “little bit” part. Yes, I still have those days where I eat ramen and eggs for dinner, and yes I still have my moments of weakness where I make a quick stop at Chick-Fil-A for some chicken nuggets. Overall, however, I have been a lot better about buying fruits and veggies instead of junk food. I even had a full vegan meal the other night…and it was actually really, really delicious. (Sidenote: Vegan ice cream is a thing and I’m kind of obsessed. Especially when it’s birthday cake vegan ice cream.) Anyway, I have started eating spinach salads again. I went through a spinach phase a few years ago, and now I’m back on the bandwagon. My lunch now consists of spinach with some kind of cheese, various fruits, and a light vinaigrette dressing. It’s no pork carnitas burrito, but I hate myself a lot less after a spinach salad…
That’s all for now!
Check back later this week for a post all about my recent trip to Washington, D.C.!
